Helios Spotlight on Executive Vice President of Finance, Aaron Roberts
Employee Spotlight: Aaron Roberts
Position: Executive Vice President, Finance
Defining Characteristics: Well read, well bred, but mostly well fed!
Personal Motto: It should be fun if you’re doing it right.
Can’t Live Without: My wife if she reads this, bacon if she doesn’t.
Greatest Challenge Overcome: My 20’s
Oddest Job: I worked concert security one summer and the acts included Puff Daddy, Jimmy Buffet, LeAnn Rimes, and the magnificent Yanni.
Definition of Success: It’s setting a tough goal and achieving it. It’s the lessons learned from making mistakes. It’s the thing you do for someone without reward. It’s simply waking up in the morning and being thankful you’re here. Take your pick. I consider them all successes.
Most Overused Saying: “Phone, Wallet, Keys” – A good friend taught me to say this phrase anytime I go from one location to another because I have a tendency to lose one or all of them a few times daily.
Favorite Book: Being the well read individual I am, I’d have to say “Gingerbread Baby” by Jan Brett. I used to read that book to my daughter when she was little, and we would laugh so hard. It’s a must read if you have young children that like cookies with attitude.
Advice To Your 13 Year Old Self: I’d hand myself a copy of Gray’s Sports Almanac and say, “Don’t you get it? You can make a fortune with this book!”
Like most of the Helios team, Aaron Roberts wears many hats, but his primary objective every day is to support the sales and finances teams.
“It’s pretty amazing the amount of work and complexity that goes into what we do for our clients. Our people need a lot of support to make that process seem as simple and easy to the client as possible. I help provide that support along with many others.”
He wakes up every morning motivated by his coworkers, clients and family. That motivation carries him through the job, where he’s constantly inspired by “our people and the tremendous opportunities we have in front of us.”
With 18+ years of experience in the financial industry, Aaron is able to point to Helios’ process and team as driving factors of competition.
“I would say our process makes us unique and our people make us interesting.”
Aaron believes that the ambitious nature and capabilities of the company rest on a foundation of hardworking people.
“I don’t know of a company our size that can provide the range of energy efficiency solutions and clean energy production capabilities that we can. That really is a testament to the group of talented individuals I feel blessed to know and work with every day.”
