Timothy Hennessy, E.E.

Managing Partner

Tim Hennessy has extensive experience in the power and renewable energy industries in Africa, Europe, India, the USA and China. Over the last fifteen years, he has been at the forefront of energy storage including having developed the energy storage extension for the Californian Self Generation Incentive Program (SGIP) in 2008. Tim has served as the senior executive for several energy storage companies raising over $100 million in funding.

Tim was President of Prudent Energy and CEO of VRB Power Systems Inc. which commercialized the vanadium flow battery energy storage technology. As Managing Director of European Operations of LECTRIX (Bechtel: AEP: Siemens JV), he developed off-balance sheet, financed energy solutions for datacenters. He was Vice President of PacifiCorp Energy Services, Quality of Supply Manager for ESKOM in South Africa and was a founder and Principal of Power Quality Technology. He has extensive experience in microgrids, and innovative methods for firming renewable energy systems and their integration within utility grids. He has served on the boards of several public companies and holds a Master of Science in Engineering. He is a professional engineer and has 65 patents related to smart grids and energy storage.

Aaron Roberts

Managing Partner

Aaron Roberts has 18 years of experience in the financial industry. Mr. Roberts provides detailed financial analysis for all international and domestic projects. Aaron also manages Helios Energy’s capital partner relationships responsible for project financing. In addition to his financial duties, Aaron provides oversight for all power purchase agreements, permitting, and real estate leases.

Mr. Roberts has worked in various positions for some of the largest banks and their affiliates in the U.S. including Wells Fargo, US Bank, and Goldman Sachs. Aaron has experience in all three major lending channels within those organizations including retail, wholesale, and correspondent for both residential and commercial capital. Having been party to hundreds of millions of dollars in lending transactions, Aaron brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and professional affiliations to the Helios Energy™ leadership team.

Aaron Roberts received his BSBA degree in Finance from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Chris Nelson

Founding Partner

Chris Nelson has over 40 years of professional leadership experience. As the CEO of Helios Energy, Mr. Nelson is responsible for the overall management of the company. Chris leads the development and implementation of all energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in the Caribbean and US.

Chris is a retired United States Marine having served for over 21 years in various intelligence assignments across the globe. Following his military career, Chris spent 12 years in senior sales leadership, training leadership and coaching roles with three different global Fortune 500 companies in the pharmaceutical, medical device and financial services industries.

He received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from The Citadel and a master’s degree from Montana State University.
