The challenge to the Helios Energy™ Team was to replace the 30+ year old entire sports lighting system and the entire electrical infrastructure supplying power to the 6 metal towers ranging in height from 55′ to 110′ in height. Dig and install over 1200′ of underground electrical conduit and wire, 6 power and control panels, and coordinate the installation of new utility transformers.
Need 1: Replace aged and failing field lights

Need 4: Eliminate lighting maintenance
Need 5: Provide full-color spectrum lighting from every fixture and dynamic lighting scenes to music
In total, 80 high-cost energy & maintenance fixtures were replaced, and 80 full Red, Green, Blue & White (RGB-W) SportsBeams(TM) LED sports lighting fixtures.
The SportsBeams(TM) fixture is the only one in the world capable of delivering both glare-free, white sports lighting and full-color spectrum light from the same platform.
540 of these fixtures went live at the Philadelphia Eagles stadium on the same night these 80 lights filled Mitchell Stadium for the first time.

The lighting has instilled a new pride in the Bluefield High School, Bluefield University, and Bluefield State College athletes, coaches, and fans sharing this 10,000+ seat stadium built in 1935. The City of Bluefield is in the hunt again to bring the WV State High School Championship game to Mitchell Stadium, and having an overall average of 82.7-foot candles of white light and the full-color spectrum of lights available for fan entertainment makes Mitchell Stadium one of the best lit athletic venues in the entire state of West Virginia.
