The City of Lebanon sought a complete electrical contracting partner to execute on the new construction of a five-field soccer complex. Helios Energy’s scope of work for Phase 1 of the complex included the installation of temporary and new electrical services, new Musco sports lighting systems, roadway and parking lot lighting, approximately 3.7 miles of underground electrical conduit and wire, electrical panels, utility transformers, EV charging stations, food truck pedestals, and the complete wiring of the concession and maintenance buildings.
This initial phase of the complex marks the first new sports fields built in Lebanon in over 20 years and includes five athletic fields with LED lighting, a walking trail and playground, a concession stand with restrooms, a pavilion, dedicated parking space, and a mix of Bermuda and synthetic turf fields.
CHALLENGE
Coordinate and construct the complete electrical infrastructure on a job site with numerous solid rock formations, creating challenging hole-boring and trenching conditions. This necessitated the use of wet-boring equipment and specialty rock trenchers.
NEED 1: Install 8′ and 14′ deep pole bases
NEED 2: Cut 3.7 miles of trenches through solid rock
NEED 3: Install, adjust, and commission sports lighting systems across five fields
NEED 4: Maximize site lighting and safety
NEED 5: Provide high-quality, long-lasting, and comprehensive electrical equipment and workmanship
SCOPE OF WORK
(14) 70 ft. sports lighting poles with 128 LED fixtures were installed on the soccer fields.
For parking lots and roadways, (24) 25′ light poles with (43) roadway/parking lot lights were installed along with (2) EV charging stations
(3) Food truck electrical pedestals were installed along with the field irrigation system power.
A food concession, office, and bathroom facility building was completely wired for electricity, HVAC, kitchen, and lighting
The maintenance building was wired and trimmed to provide LED lighting, HVAC, welding, and other electrical equipment.

The quality of the electrical work throughout the facility has instilled a sense of pride in the City of Lebanon and soccer fans from across the region. The soccer field lighting sets the standard for youth athletic facilities in middle Tennessee, and players look forward to the opportunity to compete under the lights. The amenities offered, food truck vendors, EV charging, and a complete concession stand, make this a fan favorite experience and will bring competitive teams from around the southeastern U.S. to compete in tournament play. This complex will soon become a destination competitive complex that will positively impact the City’s and the surrounding communities’ economies.
